Redact ID & Documents

Hide ID numbers, addresses and faces in photos and PDFs — files never leave your browser

Drop a photo or PDF here, or click to choose

JPG · PNG · WebP photos, PDFs up to 50 pages · paste screenshots with Ctrl+V

Files are processed in this browser only and never sent to a server.

How to use it

  • Open — drop a photo (JPG, PNG, WebP) or a PDF, or click to choose one. Screenshots can be pasted with Ctrl+V. PDFs open up to 50 pages.
  • Hide — drag a rectangle with Box, or paint over an area with Brush. Click a box to move it and drag a corner to resize. For a PDF, turn the pages and redact each one.
  • Style — choose Black out, Pixelate or Blur. For text such as ID or account numbers, Black out is the safe choice.
  • Check — use Preview result to see exactly what will be saved.
  • Save — Save file downloads a new file with _masked added to its name. Your original stays as it was.
  • Hidden areas are erased, not just covered. The photo's location and device data (EXIF) are removed, and PDF pages are saved as images so the hidden text can't be copied (the saved PDF's text can't be selected or searched).

Examples

  • Hiding part of your ID number on an ID copy for a job application
  • Blacking out an account number or address in a bank statement PDF
  • Blurring faces or a shipping label before posting a photo online
  • Hiding names and phone numbers in a screenshot before sending it to an AI chatbot or a support desk
